#RARE_BUT_STILL_OUT_THERE! Do you know that many people have never in their life seen gold at close quarters much less touch it? It’s possible that you are in that category. There’s nothing to be ashamed of, luckily for you, we are in the same boat! The fact that we have never touched or seen GOLD before ‘korokoro’ (in 9ja parlance) doesn’t mean it is extinct. Gold may be rare but it’s still out there. Yesterday on Facebook, a friend shared an experience that got me thinking. In fact, this piece is a follow-up to the issue he raised in his post. He met a young man, after talking with him for a while, the fellow asked that they go chill out together. My friend, knowing what he meant told him politely that he doesn’t drink. The young man asked whether he smokes, my friend replied again in the negative. Finally, he asked, “Do you even have a girlfriend?” Still, he said a NO! The fellow was shocked. According to him, men who don’t drink, smoke and womanize are not REAL MEN. Nothing could be farther from the truth. But his misconception is no different from the delusion of someone who feels there’s no gold anywhere because they’ve never seen one. In the same token, REAL MEN LIKE GOLD ARE RARE BUT STILL OUT THERE! You don’t have to drink yourself to stupor, smoke yourself dry or sleep with everything in skirt to be called a REAL MAN. In fact, on the contrary, REAL MEN are sober and chaste! The scenario above begs the question: who is a REAL MAN? In 1666, Thomas Watson wrote a classic on who a REAL MAN is. He tiled the book: The Godly Man’s Picture. In that masterpiece, he gave a picture perfect view of what characterises a Real man. According to Watson, REAL MEN: • Men of knowledge • Men moved by faith • Men fired by love • Men like God • Men careful about the worship of God • Men who serve God, not men • Men who prize Christ • Men who weep • Men who love the Word • Men who have the Spirit of God residing in him • Men of humility • Men of prayer • Men of sincerity • Heavenly men • Zealous men • Patient men • Thankful men • Men who love the saints • Men who do not indulge themselves in any sin • Men who are good in their relationships • Men who do spiritual things in a spiritual manner • Men thoroughly trained in religion • Men who walk with God • Men who strive to be an instrument for making others godly So I believe that all men should start asking the tough question. Are my a REAL MAN or not? Do six packs, machismo, husky voice and good looks etc necessarily add up to the above list? Ponder anew, man!

TELL SISTER CHRISTIANA THAT HEAVEN HAS MOBILIZED A SEARCH PARTY FOR HER SAKE…Oooh! I write this in tears…I remember Sis Christiana very well… She was a spiritual pillar in the Scripture Union fellowship those days…She was a fiery prayer warrior and a mobile blazer… Her zeal for God was unflinching and her commitment to evangelism was ‘something else’…Her appearance depicted Holiness and her lifestyle portrayed Christ…The period I’m talking about now was year 2003…Sister Christi (as we fondly called her those days) never walked passed our house without holding a gospel tract…She was so crazy for God that many ladies in our environment tagged her a-fanatic…They found it difficult to believe that a lady of her age who was a paragon of beauty could be ‘wasting’ her time serving God instead of enjoying her life in clubs and flirting around with married men…Guess what? I even joined the bandwagon of those who criticized her those days…It wasn’t my fault… I was very much younger and I wasn’t born again then…We called her names like ‘Holy Mary’, ‘Mama Jesus’, ‘Pretender’, ‘Carry-church-for-head’ etc…Sister Christi was never moved; she kept the fire burning…Those days there was no way you could walk pass Sis Christi’s family house at night without hearing her blasting in tongues…She was a real treat to the kingdom of darkness and a light to her family…Until an event played out that I can never forget…She walked passed a neighbor’s house one day and the man came out and confronted her…He called her all sorts of names and stretched his hand to her and said “let us bet, in few months time you will drop this your bible and start doing what other girls are doing in the streets”…Sister Christi responded by saying “God forbid”, but she never knew at that moment a battle line had been drawn…The host of hell had been mobilized to hunt her down with a price tag…It happened like magic…Few months after that incident we began to notice obvious changes in Sis Christi…She began to dress different, talk different and act different… She even started hanging out with some bad girls in the environment…We were all watching…Sister Christi was no longer seen holding her bible and gospel tracts… She was no longer seen hanging out with her Scripture Union brethren or preaching the gospel…We were still watching…It got so bad that we started noticing some fine cars coming to drop Sis Christi at her house at nights…We kept watching…Sis Christi started dressing like a Jezebel and dating married men like other bad girls…That was how we watched her rapidly decline spiritually until there was no trace of flames or even ashes upon her spiritual altar any more…Today, she is nowhere to be found in God’s map…Guess what? After her spiritual decline, that same man who had boasted to her, later hit his chest in pride and started telling everyone that his words had been fulfilled in Sis Christ’s life…Aaaaah! Oh God! May the expectation of my enemies not manifest in my spiritual life!Guess what again? Many of the Scripture Union brethren who were on fire for God the same way Sis Christi was burning for God those days are all doing exploits for the kingdom today after many years…Some of them are general overseers of mega ministries; others are wives to general overseers… Some are itinerant evangelists; some others are business moguls and highly placed men/women in society today… but Sis Christi is still nowhere to be found…Who knows if she would have been the Kathryn Khulman of this generation…?As I remember Sis Christi this day, tears drops from my eyes…Those days I was among those that were irritated by her zeal for God… I joined them to criticize her… but today, I have encountered the same God and have picked up the zeal Sis Christi dropped…Aaaagh! Are you getting this at all…?God forbid that after making ‘noise’ for Jesus preaching the gospel I will drop the fire and the yahoo boys of today will now be the ones burning for God tomorrow while I’ll be nowhere in God’s agenda…?Aaaagh! Sisters, God forbid that the slay queens of today will take your position in the kingdom tomorrow…What is it that is making you look away from the cross today…?What is it that wants to pull you down and deprive you of your inheritance in Christ…?It is time to wage war!I refuse to quit on this journey… Baba help me!Sis Christi could be anybody reading this post now…Her story is a true life story… Heaven is still in search of her…Let us not allow our own story to end like hers…IT IS TOO LATE TO DROP THE Fire. CRY NOW

Whose image are you? This is a crucial question that requires an answer from every one of us, knowledge of whose image you are will be a plus to your life ,and will enable you know whose you would at the end of your existence on earth. It is interesting to know that God created the first man in his own image and in his likeness, and has always wanted or desired it to be so, because of the great love He has for man . As could be seen In ( Gen.5:1). But unfortunately, that plan was marred by sin, thereby making man to reproduce a shadow of himself, instead of that of God. See (Gen. 5:3). I learnt that in biology ; that staying together by individuals for some time has the ability to make them look alike ? No wonder Jesus said in (john 15:4) "Abide in me and I in you . As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself"......" .But sin drove man away from the presence of God.(Gen. 3:24) which reduced him to ordinary person. Man ever since, in his desperate effort to be reconcile with God and the true image, sought for away out, that by; sacrificing of bulls and other animals which could not solve the problem but rather wearied God. (Heb . 10:4). Therefore; God provided for himself a lasting solution, in the person Jesus Christ, ( the lamb of God) that taketh away the sins of the whole world. He is an unchangeable high priest who needed not daily as other former high priest, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins , and then for the people's: For he did it once , when he offered up himself ( heb 7:24,27) .And has said" That as many as receives him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even them that believe on his name. (John 1:12) , these are the people who now has the true image of God. How do you know if you have gotten the image ? The fruit

Mind-Set #1: Entire water of the sea can't sink a ship unless it gets inside the ship; similarly, negativity of the world can't put you down unless you allow it to get inside you. Nobody makes you angry; you decide to use anger as a response. What you see depends mainly on what you look for; train your mind to see the good in every situation, then you will be able se see the invisible, feel the intangible and achieve the impossible. Always maintain a positive attitude! Do not allow negative and toxic people rent space in your head. It is your negative thoughts that hold you back, nothing else! If you do what you have always done, you will be what you have always been. To change your life, you need to change your priorities. That's the difference between those who succeed and those who fail! For success, attitude is equally as important as ability! Results don't come overnight; it requires hard work and consistency, so be patient! Knowing is not enough, you must apply; willing is not enough, you must do; but nothing can help the person with the wrong mental attitude; the mind is everything, what you think you become. Change your mind-set! If you can't presently change your fate, change your attitude; for the only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude! It is not about how bad you want it, it's about how hard you're willing to work for it. You will surely make it! Listen, change your mindset, and you'll change your life! Your attitude determines your direction! What consumes your mind control your life! Have a fulfilled day!

Lesson from the school of life. This is amazing, Randy Pausch 47 yrs old, A computer Sc. lecturer from Mellon University. He died of pancreatic cancer in 2008, but wrote a book "The last lecture" before then, one of the bestsellers in 2007. What a legacy to leave behind In a letter to his wife Jai and his children, Dylan, Logan, and Chloe, he wrote this beautiful "guide to a better life" for his wife and children to follow. May you be blessed by his insight. *POINTS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE* *Personality*: 1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment 3. Don't over do; keep your limits 4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does 5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip 6. Dream more while you are awake 7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.. 8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness. 9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others. 10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present 11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you 12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime. 13. Smile and laugh more 14. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. *Community*: 15. Call your family often 16. Each day give something good to others 17. Forgive everyone for everything 18. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6 19. Try to make at least three people smile each day 20. What other people think of you is none of your business 21. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch. *Life*: 22. Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say and do. 23. GOD heals everything 24. Do the right things 25. However good or bad a situation is, it will change 26. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up 27. The best is yet to come 28. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful 29. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it 30. If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy. While you practice all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you school with, people you play with, people you work with and people you live with. Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you. Remember, GOOD THINGS ARE FOR US TO SHARE.....!!!!!!

Mind-Set #2: Don’t settle in the land of barely enough. That may be where you are, it is not who you are. That may be your present location, it is not your identity. Don't let it break you; no matter how hard it gets, life goes on! Always focus on the solution and not the problem! Getting knocked down in life is a given... getting up and moving forward is a choice! I'm not telling you it is going to be easy, I'm telling you it's going to be worth it! You can do it! Hard times may have held you down, but they will not last forever; you may get knocked down on the outside, but the key to living in victory is to learn how to get up on the inside. Never settle for anything less than your best. Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; are you down? Get back up, get better and fight harder; stay positive; stay strong; stay brave; stay focused and get going again! You have to rely on whatever sparks you have inside! Don’t just accept whatever comes your way in life. You were born to win; you were born for greatness; you were created to be a champion in life! Wake up! When you allow what someone said or did, to upset you; you're allowing them to control you! Be in charge! What defines you is how well you rise after falling! It's not the load that break you down, it's the way you carry it! No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up! I dare you today! Listen, are you ready to get back up and fight for what you believe in? The best way to predict the future is to invent it! Have a fulfilled day

MEN OF GOLD DON'T WEAR GOLD. (By Sam Adeleke) Yesterday I had to visit somewhere. It was raining, so I did not want to drive there since I was not too familiar with the road. I parked my car somewhere close and used a keke (local tricycle). While there, I got a call from a long time friend reminding me of my promise to her husband for a job. I quickly told her my location, and since I would be leaving town soon I asked her to tell her husband to meet me up ASAP where I packed my car, at a popular land mark. I hadn’t known her husband nor had we ever met before. As I sent her the address, she called me back and was so excited that I was even around her area, seeing it would make it much easier for her husband, who did not even have the means of transporting himself to our meeting place. Things were that bad, so I asked her to tell him he should pick a drop and I would pay. In other not to keep him stranded, I hurried back to where I packed my car. God, I even braved the rain and cold just to ensure he was not stranded. As I walked in the rain, I saw a Keke and stopped it. The Keke driver asked me to beg the man inside, so I started begging. The man refused and said I was wet. I told him I would sit one side, and he refused, saying except I pay for both his fare and mine. I agreed, then he allowed me. As I entered this man kept me uncomfortable, threatening that if my wet clothes touched him again I would get down. I just kept my cool and finally got to the junction, close to where I parked my car. I paid as agreed and trekked to my car, a very short distance away. While inside my car warming myself, I got a call from my friend saying her husband was around, so I described my car and noticed a man approaching my car. The man knocked on my car's side glass and I wound down. Lo and behold, it was the same man I was in the keke with. God! Oh! I asked myself, "So this is the man for whom I paid to share a ride with him? So this is the man I was supposed to recommend for a job?...No, no, no-oooo." Tears rolled down my eyes. I brought out N3,000, gave him, started my car and zoomed off. My friend has been calling and sending me messages but I have finally decided to block her. Be careful, many times men of gold don’t wear gold. Be nice.

Be nice.

Mind-Set #1: Don't depend on others as your source of happiness; don't let the way others treat you determine your worth and value; don’t depend too much on anyone because even your own shadow leaves you when you are in darkness. What you can become depends on what you can overcome. One small crack does not mean you are broken, it means that you were put to the test and you didn't fall apart. It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wears you down; it's the pebble in your shoe! You failed, so what? Get over it! That was so yesterday; today is a new day. One mistake does not have to rule your entire life! Everything in your future is not determined by your past! You cannot keep running away from your fears; at some point in life you will have to build up the courage to face and overcome them! When life places a wall in your path, you have two choices... you can beat your head against it and keep whining, or you can figure out a way around it. You are capable! Your thoughts creates the mold for your actions; all negativity is caused by living in the past and future's anxiety, stress, worry and all fears. Allow your faith to be bigger than your fears. Success is measured by the strength of your desire and the size of your dream; find your passion; for there lies your strength. You gain strength and courage by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face... you must do the things you think you cannot do! Don't let your past hold you down! Wake up! Listen, the biggest obstacle you'll ever have to overcome is your mind. If you can overcome that, you can overcome anything! Have a fulfilled day!

OUR CHILDREN ARE SEXY! Parent competition on making children go astray. Few weeks ago, I was at the local airport and as I waited in the departure lounge, I noticed there were many children roaming about but it was understandable since it was summer holiday. One other thing I noticed was the way most of the children were dressed. Most of them, especially the girls, were dressed in bum shorts, halter necks, cut off jeans, etc. The clothes in themselves weren't the issue per se; it was the overall look of the children that had me bothered. That was definitely not the first time I noticed it. A few months before, I had taken my kids to a birthday party and found myself in what could easily have been a night club for kids. Scanty clothing such as tight or very short clothes, bum shorts, long weaves, etc, seemed to be the dress code. I noticed my son glancing around, probably wondering, "What in God's world are these other children wearing?" Or something like that. Not long after, the kids were called out to dance to the hit songs of the season - these songs in my opinion should be rated PG 16. 4 - 6 year olds trooped to the dance floor, miming the sexually explicit songs and gyrating their bodies in the most sensual manner. They could have given Beyonce a run for her money. They ran their hands over their bodies, shook their booties hard while their parents cheered them on. The boys had their upper shirts unbuttoned and rapped along perfectly to gangsta raps while doing flawless break dance. Those who danced like actual children where shooed off the dance floor while the lewd ones were cheered on. As I watched, my child stared out of this circle looking longingly at the others dancing. I knew it was time to leave. As we left, we went to an eatery where I bought them ice cream and gently explained to them the concept of decency and dancing with decorum. Another time, at a game arcade for kids, I ran into a lady who had made-up her kids' faces like they were mannequins for Tara or Mac beauty products. Their skirts were so tight, that running up and down the slide was uncomfortable for them. So the question is, why are we sexualizing our kids? Why does your 4, 6 or 9 year old girl have to look like a chick? Why does she have to be hot or sexy? Should your 8 year old son go around with a comb in his hair and his pants sagged almost to his ankles? If your child wears bum shorts out of the house at age 3, why should she be expected to wear longer ones at 15? If she wears 2 rings and 12 bangles at 6, why won't she pierce a second ear hole at 17 and her bellybutton at 19? Why won't your son pierce his own ear at 15? Are you setting your children up to be immodest and indecent? What trend are you starting them on? That all these are fashionable or trendy doesn't mean it's ok. What happened to children wearing dresses. Children can look very nice and decent, they can be well covered and still look good. In this age, when children are being abused. Is it wise to make your child an object of anyone's sexual attention? When I hear some children belt out sexually explicit lyrics, I ask myself how they became exposed to this songs! As a parent, you can't play the CD of such songs and not expect your children to pick them up; the same goes for watching Mtv Base, Channel O, etc with your children. Studies have shown that children exposed to a high level of sexually explicit information tend to become sexually active early. Is that your goal as a parent? Being a parent involves sacrifice. You will need to avoid listening to such music where your children are. Most of those lyrics demean women and teach your daughter that she's just a sex toy and her body is for squeezing. It teaches the boys that money is everything and women are things to be used to satisfy their primal urges. These music introduces them to a degrading pop culture. Our children have their lives ahead of them, let's set them on the right path by teaching them to dress decently and sing nice or age-appropriate songs. Let your children be children. Train up a child in the way that they should go and when they are old, they would not depart from it.

An old church in a village in Brazil was leaking and the walls were almost collapsing. After the service the Padre asked the worshipers if they could organize a fundraising to rebuild the church... He told them to contribute whatever God has blessed each and everyone of them with. If you have some money, you can bring the money. If you earn a living by selling tomatoes in the market, you can bring the tomatoes and they get them auctioned to raise the money... If you operate a hardware it would be even better; you can bring some nails and iron sheets for the roof... whatever you have. Eventually, it was the day of fundraising and worshippers came out in large numbers, some with money in their pockets, others with goods depending on their jobs and sources of livelihood... They were met by a strange sight; a coffin at the entrance of the church!...Gosh! Who had died?... but then again it was on a Sunday and funeral services were never conducted on Sundays.... What was going on? People started talking in whispers asking what was the meaning of it...they started pointing fingers to an old man seated at a corner; he was the coffin maker... Some looked at him in open hostility, but he didn't mind them... the Padre had said that people should bring whatever God has blessed you with, right?... and he was a coffin maker... After the service it was time to raise funds ; those who had money contributed, hardware people gave iron sheets and other building equipments and materials; tomato traders had brought their tomatoes which were auctioned away... Finally, the coffin maker dragged his coffin to the front of the church and stood still... people gasped and fell silent... you could hear a pin drop. Suddenly an old man, a friend of the coffin maker stood up... he offered 15,000 for the coffin on behalf of the padre... said he was buying it for the padre... The Padre shot up so fast with eyes wide open....his lips suddenly very dry. He quickly offered 20,000 for the coffin on behalf of the leader of CWA (Catholic women Association). The Lady nearly stumbled as she sprang to her feet looking so shocked at seeing her coffin... "No! no! no!" She shouted, "it is not mine! ...I ...I ... I..will buy it for the Catechist!... 30,000 please!... please! The Catechist nearly peed on himself. He turned to look at her angrily as if to ask "do you want to kill me?!" Clearly nobody wanted the coffin and it kept on being passed around until finally another old rich man stood and said that he is offering 100,000 for the coffin and he is buying it on behalf of the coffin maker... The coffin maker took his coffin and returned it to his shop....smiling. The coffin maker, someone who was looked down upon, someone whom people jeered that he benefits from the misfortunes of others, raised the greatest amount of money for the church without contributing even a single coin. You can serve God in many different ways. Perhaps people belittle you until you see yourself as a nobody.... but God wants you just the way you are. He will turn your shame into honor.
